How Much Music models earnings

How Much Music publishes modeled ranges, not audited royalty statements. The goal is to make catalog economics legible without pretending to have access to private contracts.

What the estimates represent

• Artist and song pages use annual earnings ranges as editorial estimates.
• Where possible, pages separate gross catalog revenue from the artist-side retained share.
• Ownership notes explain when labels, publishers, estates, or catalog buyers likely absorb a large part of the revenue.

How rankings work

• Rankings use the midpoint of the displayed revenue range.
• Album rankings aggregate the tracked songs currently modeled on the site, not the whole commercial album unless every track is covered.
• That makes the rankings useful for comparison, not as a substitute for accounting data.

What still introduces uncertainty

• Legacy contract terms are rarely public.
• Catalog-sale details can materially alter the performer or estate share.
• Streaming mix, geography, and licensing activity change over time.
